another thing I hate isnt the game, but the people playing it (this happened last night) I had a rare inscribed staff of fortitude, (gold) and I wanted to sell it. I went to the merchant, and I saw it was going to sell for 120g. So I say to myself, well, I will sell it for 500g.
The guy I traded it to PMs me, and I say I'm selling it for no less than 500g. He said he would give me 750g for it. So I trade it to him, and after the trade he said...
"you know this this is worth 50k after you expert salvadge it..."
*Smaks head against many times, leaves a big dent in it afterwords*
So, I'm trying to save up for a guild hall, and this jerk couldent be a good citizen and say that it is worth 50k. Some people are nice, but then there are the others that are complete jerks.
well, thats the price I have to pay sometimes to be able to play a great game.
PS. I asked in the forum but it got cut, so I didnt know how much it was worth.

the fact that he/she had to rub your nose in it shows what kind of a jerk you were dealing with
if called on it they would probably say you should be grateful for teaching you a lesson so it didnt happen again

I always used to think of this forum as some kind of "speakers corner" like they have in HidePark.
A place where people can grief, laugh, joke, bash, enjoy, cry, have fun, holler etc.
You will find, that the best way to deal with your emotions (love, hate etc.) is to spill them out.
And to know, that people listen/read your problems.
You want people to be constructive, but how can they be, if you don't allow them to share their negative feelings in a public place like this?
Sure there are limmits to express yourself in a public place, but saying: cut down the un-constructive threads doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Posting negative feelings is ok, I guess. Going on ad nauseum and not offering anything by way of ideas to improve what it is that ails the game, doesn't help anyone or anything. Turning every topic into a rant/whine is boring and dull. There are literally hundreds of places and sites one can go and rant/swear/throw things/kick & scream.
In our real lives, I can bet that most of us avoid people and places that are filled with nothing but negativity. We don't want to see that happen to GWGuru, do we?
But I think that THX's main point is this: Complain and get it out of your system in a constructive non-harassing, whining way. Make a post that gets the negative energy out but that also adds some ideas on how to make it better. The only way to precipitate change is to offere suggestions for improvement and/or point out game bugs.

I don't know, I've seeing a LOT more complaints about people (IE: Complaining about the complainer threads like this, threads ranting about running into a jerk/scammer/stupid party member) lately than actual complaints about Guild Wars.
Most who have unreconcilable problems with Guild Wars have already moved on and the only thing keeping some alive and interested in the Guild Wars forums is trolling threads and posts that lure them out of lurk.

Actually, you have to take the time of the posting into consideration. Unless you actually pull up a massive number of posts from that time period, this announcement is just grossly out of context. At the time that this thread was made, every second thread on these forums had some sort of major complaint. Sure, constructive criticism (and rarely, unconstructive criticism) has its place, but a flood of the same complaints ruthlessly bombarding a small space while not providing any solutions becomes extremely counter-productive -- not only to having their concerns be heard, but also to gaining sympathy for their cause.
Now, let's not go resurrecting two month old threads without a very pressing need? It just tends to confuse everyone.
